Hoi An, an ancient town - Vietnam

Ancient and peaceful, Hoi An is one of the most popular destinations in Vietnam for travellers of all tastes. The little town is just the perfect candidate which Vietnam tourism ministry is aiming to show to the world.

Hoi An Town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Its buildings and its streets reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site.

Hoi An which is a mixture among Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese acient designs has remained mostly intact since. In 1999, UNESCO formally recognized Hoi An as a World Heritage Site. Hoi An is home to many temples, pagodas and the ancient houses which are very unique. The density of such sites is unlike any other in Vietnam. These places carry with them the history of Hoi An itself.
